PROVISION OF SIX PICNIC TABLES / BENCHES FOR THE WILDSIDE CENTRE
This is a single stage tender. Suppliers should complete the Tender Return Form to the Trust by 30th April 2021. The Trust will then select a supplier and finalise a contract with that supplier.
Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust Ltd wishes to contract with a business which will manufacture, supply, install and snag a total of six benches / picnic tables at the Trust’s premises at The Wildside Centre, Whitebridge.
Six benches should comprise
- Two picnic table benches for adults only
- Two picnic table benches to include gaps to allow those in wheelchairs to use them, and perhaps a high seat or perch for those unable to sit down.
- Two picnic tables suitable entirely for groups of children up to eleven years of age.
The important features of the items will be that they are of robust, rustic design, have an expected life of over six years and have been appropriately treated to ensure their water resistance and extend their durability. They should be solid, steady and level. Any gaps in the surface of the table tops should be minimised so cups etc do not fall into the holes. The distance between the seats and table top should neither be too close to be uncomfortable of difficult to access, nor yet too wide – as the user may then find it awkward or impossible to lean into the table to address a plate of food.
Whilst rustic in nature, the items must be constructed of timber which will be finished to a standard which will not be prone to splintering or have skelfs which could easily catch on the users clothing.
No guide price is given, but prospective tenders will be considered on the following elements. Track record, appropriateness of design, price including VAT where appropriate, delivery schedule and proposed maintenance regime.
Prospective suppliers should include in their total price a return visit to the items around six months after installation to check on the condition of the items and apply any supplementary wood treatment required after this period. Where the design includes any footing, then this should be included in the cost of work. If the items are to be installed on gravel or slabbed pads, then the cost of the gravel, slabs and any retaining rails should be included.

This table is shown for reference only. Prospective suppliers should choose their own designs.
