JUNE 2019

Saturday 29 June 2019 – Stratherrick Catholic Church’s ‘Stratherrick Day of Recollection for the Immaculate Heart of Mary’– a Day of Reflection and Prayer based on poetry and prose about Our Lady, with passages from: St. Luke, Blessed John Duns Scotus, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Thomas Merton, and George Mackay Brown. There will be a miscellany of words and music in the morning, with Mass before lunch in the church. Fr. Andrzej Niski will preside, with Deacon Dominic Nwaigwe as Homilist. After lunch, there will be a Rosary Walk to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Highlands, with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, A Litany of Our Lady, Free Intercessory Prayers, Vespers and Benediction.

Saturday 29 June 2019 – European Pipe Band Championships at Inverness. The event has moved from Forres to the Bught this year.  Look out for familiar local faces in the The City of Inverness Pipe Band which is drawn as the last band to play in the Grade 3a competition at 1543hrs.  

Twelve visiting Grade One Pipe Bands are drawn as follows

The Grade Two competition draw features a cluster of the Aberdeen bands including the new Highland Granite Pipes and Drums, so comparisons with Buchan Peterson, Portlethan and Bucksburn will be all the more easy to make.

AUGUST 2019 

Saturday 17th August 2019  Barn Dance at Dell

Don’t miss this year’s summer event, which is being hosted jointly by Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust and the Macpherson Family from Dell Farm.  The Community Barn Dance will be held in Dell Farm, Whitebridge on Saturday 17th August from 7:30pm – 11:30pm.

Music will be provided by the Cask Strength Ceilidh Band; a hog roast and BBQ (with vegan and vegetarian options) will be provided by Hog Roast Highlands and there will be a cash bar provided by Bars’r’us in Inverness.   

Due to licensing laws, tickets for this event will be available free of charge to anyone living in the community and their guests.  Each ticket will entitle the bearer to one free drink and either a hog roast bun or something from the BBQ.   Please note that you will not be allowed to bring your own alcohol to the dance or entry will be denied.

There will also be a raffle and auction in aid of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust.  This Trust exists to provide financial and other support services to serving and retired Scottish Fire Service personnel and their families, who may require assistance in times of need. https://sfrs-familysupport.org.uk/

17-24 September 2019 Roman Catholic Church Pilgrimage 2019. Fort William Deanery is organising a pilgrimage to Pontevedra, Santiago de Compostela, Fatima and Lisbon.

Sunday 29 September 2019 – Harvest Festival at St Paul’s Episcopal Church  Croachy. 


5th – 13th October 2019 Catholic Parish Pilgrimage to Medjugorje.  This is in Bosnia and Hertzogovnia near Mostar and the Croatian border.  Travel is by air.  Contact Didi or Father Andrew.

Stratherrick & Foyers Community Council Meeting Dates 2019

The Community Council usually meets on the last Tuesday evening of the month. All are welcome to attend.  The current Chair of the Communitry Council is Mrs Catriona Fraser, Glebe.
