Rose Fortune

In June 1964 Rose came to be the District Nurse for Stratherrick & Foyers when Nurse Katie Fraser retired. She soon came to be a well known figure in the district as she carried out her duties in the wee nurse’s mini van. Rose stayed at the Nurse’s Cottage, Gorthleck. In 1976 Rose married widower Fergus Fortune and moved to the Phoenix Errogie, where they spent over 25 happy years together till Fergus passed away March 2010 just short of his 101 birthday. In 2012 Rose moved from Stratherrick to stay in sheltered housing in Inverness and in August 2014 passed away.

Rose became an integral part of the community during her forty-eight years in Stratherrick taking part in all aspects of rural life.   Rose was very keen on photography a recorded some of the events going on in the district and others involving excursions from the area. She also photographed some of the people in their homes or at work she met whilst on nursing duties between 1968-72
