WALK – Thursday 17th August 2017 – Regular walk-out from Boleskine Community Care Hub at Foyers.  http://www.boleskine-communitycare.org.uk/

EVENT – Groove Festival at Clune Farm, Dores.  Music commences at 2pm on Saturday 19th August 2017 until 2am on the Sunday Morning.  www.groovefestival.co.uk  Shuttle buses operate from and to Inverness.

Wildlife Discovery Walks from Foyers with Highland Council Ranger Service commence  4th July 2017 and run on Tuesdays in July and August. 2pm to 4pm Contact Lyn Forbes on 01456 486333

EVENT – 1st September 2017 –  Stratherrick Primary School 40th Anniversary Celebrations. More info follows soon.

EVENT – Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October 2017 – Loch Ness Luvvies present ‘BUNKERED‘ by Lynn Brittney. Amateur dramatics at the Stratherrick Community Hall, Gorthleck.  Curtain up 7.30pm.

SPORTING EVENTS USING SOUTH LOCH NESS in 2017

  • Rat Race Coast to Coast (Nairn to Ballachulish) 9th September 2017 via Calanour, Errogie, Gorthleck, Whitebridge and the Suidhe www.ratrace.com/coasttocoast 
  • Deloitte Ride Across Britain – Land’s End – Whitebridge – Dores – John o’Groats on 16th September 2017. No road closures. www.rideacrossbritain.com
  • Loch Ness Marathon – 24th September 2017 Road closure map & times can be found on the Loch Ness Marathon website. www.lochnessmarathon.com
  • Loch Gu Loch – 30th September 2017.  No road closure for this event. www.lochguloch.com

Stratherrick & Foyers Community Council 2017 Meeting Dates

The Community Council meets on the last Tuesday of the month. All are welcome to attend.

No meeting to be held in August

Tuesday 31 October  – Gorthleck Hall at 7.30 pm

Tuesday 22 November – Foyers Primary School 7.30 pm

Tai Chi Classes – Gorthleck Hall

Regular classes Wednesdays 10 – 11 a.m. £2.00 (no need to book)

Tai chi comprises gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness. It has been shown to improve balance control, fitness and flexibility.  Suitable for all fitness levels and ages.

Seniors Lunch Club – You need to book (venue Whitebridge Hotel in the winter, Stratherrick Community Hall in the Summer months – May to September inclusive.)

Last Friday of every month – to make a booking call Cathy on 486 329
This is a 2-course meal. Partially funded by the Community Trust the meal costs £2.50, payable at the door.
Please book beforehand by phoning Cathy.  Bookings have to be taken by the Monday prior to the lunch.

Broth and a Blether – in the Chapel Hall at Whitebridge

3rd Monday of every month – just drop in anytime between 11.30 – 3.00 at the Church Hall of the Whitebridge Chapel (at the junction of the B862 and B852, at the Foyers turn-off / Bridge of Loin).
Home-made soup, bread and cake available for just £1. Drop in anytime for a chat, meeting up with friends, or it’s a chance to meet new people. Go for a short led walk – any ability, play cards, swap gardening tips etc. If you need a lift phone Jane on 486 355.

Coffee Morning – Waterfall Cafe at Foyers

On the 2nd Thursday of each month, from 10-12am, the Waterfall Cafe in Foyers hosts a coffee morning and get-together.

Afternoon Tea – Camerons Tea Room at Foyers

First Friday of the month. Traditional cakes and tea will be served at the Camerons’ Tea Room.  No charge but donations welcome.  Bring a friend or that elderly neighbour who may not be able to get out much.
