Ideas

To help us gather ideas for the future, here are some of the projects that other communities have achieved around the country:

PROJECTS

There are a raft of opportunities available for this community to grasp and the project ‘wish list’ below has been formed from the work undertaken by a number of groups. These include: the Community Consultation conducted by the Community Trust in 2013; a range of ideas and projects from the Community Council; and the Boleskine Community Care survey in 2014 and other new and/or partially formed groups. The new Project Co-ordinator’s role will be key to helping us make these projects happen.

a. Community Transport
b. Visitor Centre
c. Cultural/Learning Centre (historical, geographical, social, economic and biological information)
d. Renewable initiatives (household energy improvements)
e. Improved care for the elderly
f. Sports facilities (indoor pitch, gym, pool etc.)
g. Improved broadband speed
h. More affordable housing
i. Sheltered housing
j. Green initiatives such as allotments and polytunnels
k. Improved access paths
l. Small business premises
m. Improved pier facility
n. Improved car parking by the Foyers shop
o. Community Woodland (including Educational centre)
p. Adventure centre

All these projects require substantial input of time and expertise. Many involve the purchase of land and most will require the construction of detailed business plans. All will also require much gathering of information, communication with stakeholders, co-ordination of volunteer effort and ongoing management.
